I barely graduated high school and decided to enlist in the Army to escape the trouble I found as a teen. I started my career blowing up complex obstacles and land mines as a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I achieved some notable success, earning "Soldier of the Year" and "Expert Sapper", and gaining admission to West Point. Later, I led teams in combat during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. As a commissioned officer, I had the privilege of serving as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General and established my first "startup" while in a combat zone, leading a 52-person Mobile Security Detachment that I built from the ground up with 12 Navy Sailors (yes, they got some interesting on the job training) and eventually a Stryker platoon.
Throughout my military career, I completed multiple courses, including Ranger School, Sapper Leader Course, Special Forces Assessment and Selection, Military Free Fall, Airborne, Air Assault and Pathfinder schools. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from West Point and graduate degrees from the London School of Economics and King’s College London. I'm honored to be recognized as a Marshall Scholar, Truman Scholar, and a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi.
Transitioning from my decade of military service, I jumped into small business leadership. I managed a $20 million portfolio of VA hospital projects and successfully doubled a regional contractor's revenue from $60 million to $120 million within three years. I also led the launch of a new brand in the Carolinas, and after recognizing inefficiencies in the construction and commercial real estate industry, I seized the opportunity to work with a technology solution called IntelliSpex, serving as a Strategic Advisor and acting Chief Growth Officer.
With a background in construction and a genuine passion for technology, I founded Command Applications to bridge the gap between these two worlds. Recognizing the immense potential for digital transformation within the AEC market, I aim to empower construction professionals with cutting-edge software solutions.
In my current role, I serve as the Senior Vice President of Channel Growth at the Demex Group. I am also a co-founder of CMD Capital, a venture capital firm focused on investments in the Infrastructure, Mental Health, and Social Impact sectors. I have volunteered as President of the West Point Society of Columbia, Chairman of the Board of Purple Heart Homes, and Advisor to Bugle.
